Uganda has welcomed Mr Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), for an official working visit at the invitation of Hon. Norbert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
The visit underscores Uganda’s commitment to fostering innovation, intellectual property (IP)-driven enterprise, and strengthening international cooperation to promote sustainable investment and development.
During the engagements, government officials and WIPO leadership discussed strategies to enhance IP infrastructure, support creative industries, and encourage technology-driven economic growth across the country.
Minister Mao highlighted that the collaboration with WIPO is a key step toward positioning Uganda as a hub for innovation and knowledge-based enterprise in the region.
Mr Tang’s visit is expected to deepen partnerships that leverage intellectual property as a tool for economic development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable investment in Uganda.
