Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of attempting to rob a resident in Najeera.

The suspect, identified as Hussein Wagaba, a resident of Kayunga in Wakiso District, was arrested on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a swift response by security personnel.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspect was intercepted shortly after authorities received reports of the attempted robbery.

“The suspect was apprehended following a quick response by security personnel after reports of an attempted robbery in the area,” Owoyesigyire said.

He added that Wagaba is currently in police custody as investigations continue and officers gather evidence to support possible charges.

Owoyesigyire also noted that police have intensified operations aimed at addressing robberies and related crimes across the Kampala Metropolitan area.

“We have stepped up security operations to curb rising cases of robbery and ensure the safety of residents,” he said.
