Kole — The Assistant District Health Officer of Kole District, Mr. Egwang Martin, is expected to appear before the Kole Magistrate’s Court today to take plea on charges of uttering false documents and impersonation.

According to the Inspectorate of Government, Mr. Egwang allegedly submitted fraudulent academic documents while applying for the position of Assistant District Health Officer (Maternal and Child Health) at the Kole District Local Government in February 2017.

Investigations indicate that Mr. Egwang knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false transcript for a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management, Transcript No. 93342, purportedly issued by Uganda Martyrs University to the Kole District Service Commission.

Prosecutors further allege that during the same application process, Mr. Egwang presented a Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Uganda Certificate of Education belonging to another individual identified as Egwang Martin, an Estates Engineer at Busitema University. He allegedly falsely represented himself as the rightful holder of the certificate with intent to defraud the district service commission.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Inspectorate of Government into alleged fraud in the recruitment process at the district.

Mr. Egwang is expected to take plea before the court as the prosecution seeks to proceed with the case.
