KAMPALA, UGANDA — Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has called for the death penalty following the killing of four children in Ggaba, an incident that has shocked the nation and sparked widespread outrage.

The children were discovered dead at a school in the Kampala suburb under what authorities have described as violent and suspicious circumstances. Preliminary findings suggest the victims may have been attacked with a blunt object, although police say a full forensic report is yet to confirm the exact cause of death.

Investigators have since taken a suspect into custody. Police sources indicate the individual is believed to have had access to the school, raising concerns about safety and supervision within the premises. Authorities are also examining whether the attack was premeditated and if others could have been involved.

The identities of the victims have not been publicly released, but officials confirmed they were all minors enrolled at the same school. The scene remains sealed off as forensic teams continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish what happened.

The killings have triggered grief and anger among residents in Ggaba and across the country, with many calling for swift justice.

In a public response, Gen. Muhoozi condemned the killings and called for the harshest punishment against the suspect, reflecting the mood of many Ugandans. However, legal experts note that any sentence can only be determined through the courts after due process.

Police have appealed for calm as investigations continue, assuring the public that more verified information will be shared as it becomes available.

The case is expected to proceed to court once inquiries are complete, as the country mourns the loss of the four young lives.
