KAMPALA — Police in Kireka have arrested a prime suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to Uganda Police Force, the incident happened on March 26, 2026, at about 6:00am in Kamuli A Zone, where a 44-year-old man, identified as Omaido Moses, was found with a severe stab wound. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire said preliminary investigations indicate that the killing stemmed from a misunderstanding at the deceased’s residence.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the incident followed a misunderstanding at his residence involving Agadi Oliver and Aliya, who were identified as suspects in the matter,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement.

Police had earlier arrested one suspect, Agadi Oliver, to assist with investigations.

In an update, police confirmed the arrest of the main suspect, identified as Aliya Nakimera, who had fled the area after the incident.

“Police have since arrested the prime suspect, Aliya Nakimera, from Mityana District where she had fled after the commission of the crime. She is now in custody and will be charged accordingly,” Owoyesigyire said.

Authorities say inquiries into the matter are ongoing as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
