Kampala Metropolitan Police arrested 75 suspects during a series of coordinated operations across multiple crime-prone areas in the city and surrounding districts between 15th and 17th March 2026.

The operations targeted hotspots in Mutungo Zone 4, Nasuti (Mukono), Mbuya I Parish, Kireku Railway Zone, Kireku Main Zone, Bweyogerere Central Zone, and Wabigalo Parish, focusing on individuals involved in robbery, burglary, theft, narcotics consumption, and public nuisance.

“Through these operations, we have arrested 75 individuals suspected of various criminal activities. They are now in custody pending screening and prosecution,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.

In Mbuya I Parish, police impounded seven motorcycles from a garage suspected of altering and reconditioning motorcycle parts, including: two motorcycles without number plates, two with concealed plates and three with suspected fake plates.

The motorcycles are undergoing verification as investigations continue into possible links with criminal activities.

In a separate incident at Masooli Cell, Kasangati, a suspected thief armed with a panga was lynched by a mob after allegedly attempting to target poultry farms with accomplices. Police have processed the scene and investigations into the mob action are ongoing.

Police emphasized that the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and reduce crime in Kampala and surrounding areas.

“We will continue to conduct such operations to ensure communities are safe and suspects are brought to justice,” ASP Owoyesigyire added.
