KIRA, Wakiso District — Police in Kira Municipality have arrested 95 individuals during a series of intelligence-led operations targeting criminal gangs, drug-related offences, and violent crime across the rapidly expanding urban area.

According to security officials, the operations focused on crime-prone neighbourhoods and suspected hideouts in Najjera, Bulindo, Kito, and surrounding communities.

The coordinated raids involved joint security teams working alongside local leaders and crime intelligence units to disrupt organised criminal activity.

Authorities say many of the suspects are linked to offences including phone snatching, house break-ins, robbery, and drug trafficking and abuse. During the operations, police reportedly recovered suspected narcotics and other items associated with criminal activity.

All suspects were taken to various police stations within Kira Division for screening and further investigations. Police emphasised that those found innocent will be released, while individuals with cases to answer will face charges in court.

Security agencies noted that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety and restore order in fast-growing urban centres within the Kampala Metropolitan Area. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and share information with law enforcement to help combat crime in their communities.

Police confirmed that similar operations will continue as authorities work to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents and businesses across Wakiso District.
