Kampala’s newly elected Lord Mayor, Hon. Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo, has praised Bamulopa Sulaiman, Director of MK International School in Busega, for the school’s significant investments in student welfare and modern facilities.

Hon. Balimwezo visited the school on February 10, 2026, during the official opening of newly upgraded facilities at the institution, which was established in 2009. He encouraged parents across Kampala to consider enrolling their children at MK International School, describing it as a model for educational standards in the city.

“All schools in Kampala should have established infrastructure like MK International School, with well-trained educators providing quality learning,” Hon. Balimwezo said.

Comprehensive Upgrades for Student Welfare

MK International School recently completed a wide-ranging series of improvements focused on student accommodation, sanitation, supervision, and health protocols.

The upgrades include: renovated hostels and improved student accommodation, upgraded sanitation systems and hygiene facilities, trained matrons to enhance student supervision, strengthened security measures and structured support programs to boost pastoral care and overall well-being.

Director Bamulopa Sulaiman said the initiatives reflect the school’s commitment to providing a safe, modern, and supportive learning environment, guided by recommendations from education authorities and compliance inspections with national and international standards.

Parents welcomed the reforms, highlighting improvements in hygiene, supervision, and communication between the school and families. Education experts note that sustained investment in infrastructure and student welfare is vital for boarding schools aiming to maintain quality and stakeholder trust.

Expanding Academic and Co-Curricular Programs

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, MK International School has expanded its academic and co-curricular offerings, including digital skills training, leadership programs, and sports activities designed to nurture well-rounded learners.

Hon. Balimwezo’s visit and endorsement reinforce MK International School’s reputation as one of Kampala’s leading institutions, setting a benchmark for educational excellence and student welfare in the city.
