A man accused of abusing a minor in a disturbing video circulating on TikTok has surrendered to authorities and is currently under investigation, according to State Minister Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi.

In a statement shared on March 25, the minister said the suspect presented himself to authorities and is now being questioned by the Criminal Investigations Directorate over allegations involving a young boy.

The video, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, allegedly shows the suspect subjecting the child to severe abuse. Authorities say the incident is being treated as a serious case involving a minor.

Barugahara indicated that preliminary information suggests the suspect may have drugged the child prior to the alleged abuse, a claim that investigators are expected to examine as part of ongoing inquiries.

He called on law enforcement to handle the case with urgency, diligence, and transparency to ensure justice is served.

“This matter must be treated with the seriousness it deserves,” the minister said, urging the public to respect the law and protect the rights and dignity of children.

Child rights advocates have also weighed in, condemning all forms of abuse and calling for stronger enforcement of laws protecting minors.

Police have not yet released further details about the suspect or the victim, but investigations are ongoing. Authorities have urged members of the public to report any information that could assist in the case.

The incident has reignited calls for increased vigilance among parents, communities, and online platforms to safeguard children from harm.
