Jinja Road — Police at Jinja Road have detained three individuals in connection with personation. The arrests were made on 24th March 2026. The suspects have been identified as Ariho Abubakar Uthmaan, Bukenya Fayim, and Kaweesi Dalton.

Authorities allege that the trio impersonated the Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, on social media platforms with the aim of extorting money from police officers and members of the public.

A formal case of personation has been registered, and police carried out searches at the suspects’ premises, recovering electronic devices and documents suspected to have been used in committing the crime.

Investigations are ongoing as police work to establish the full extent of the operation.

SP Racheal Kawala, Police spokesperson at Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), confirmed the arrests and recovery of evidence.
