Joint security operations conducted across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan area have resulted in the arrest of 90 suspects linked to a range of criminal activities including robbery, narcotics trafficking and theft.

According to the Uganda Police Force, the coordinated night operations targeted several crime hotspots in Mukono, Kira, Katwe, Kampala Central and Entebbe.

Motorcycles Recovered in Mukono

In Mukono District, police recovered six motorcycles suspected to have been used in robberies during an intelligence-led operation conducted on March 5, 2026 at about 3:00am in Bajjo.

Authorities said the operation followed complaints from residents about a group of individuals who had reportedly been attacking people during both day and night.

Investigations indicated that the suspects were hiding in an unfinished house in the area. A police task team responded and arrested six suspects from the premises.

Narcotics Operation in Namugongo

In Kira Division, police carried out another operation in Mbalwa, Namugongo, targeting suspected narcotics dealers.

During the raid, three suspects were arrested while processing opium into sticks, which police believe were intended for sale to criminal groups.

Katwe Operation Nets 64 Suspects

Meanwhile, in Katwe Division, operations along Salama Road in the Kisangani slums and surrounding areas led to the arrest of 64 suspects suspected of involvement in different criminal activities.

Crackdown at Mukwano Roundabout

At Central Police Station Kampala, police officers were deployed on March 4 at around 7:00pm along Mukwano Roundabout and the Punjani stretch, despite heavy rains and traffic congestion.

Police said the deployment targeted criminals who exploit traffic jams to steal vehicle parts and snatch phones and bags from motorists and pedestrians.

Arrests in Entebbe

Another operation in Nakawuka in Entebbe led to the arrest of 14 suspects believed to be linked to criminal activities in the area.

According to Racheal Kawala, all the suspects are currently in police custody and are awaiting processing and prosecution.

Police said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across the Kampala Metropolitan area. Authorities have urged the public to continue sharing information that can help law enforcement identify and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activities.
