Museveni Launches Shs135bn Busoga Kingdom Headquarters

Bugembe, Jinja — The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday presided over the historic launch of the foundation stone for the Shs135 billion Busoga Kingdom Headquarters, a monumental project poised to transform administration, cultural preservation, and heritage promotion across the kingdom.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Kyabazinga described the project as a defining moment in Busoga’s journey toward modern governance and cultural renaissance.

“At a historic event, President Yoweri Museveni and I jointly launched our Kingdom Headquarters — a pioneering project poised to revolutionise administration, cultural exchange, and heritage preservation within the kingdom,” Kyabazinga Nadiope said.

He added that the project marks “a significant milestone, ushering in a new era of cultural pride, dignity, and a transformative journey for Busoga.”

President Museveni, who earlier addressed thousands of supporters during his political engagements in the region, emphasised the government’s commitment to continued development in Busoga. He reaffirmed that infrastructure expansion remains central to the NRM’s manifesto ahead of the 2026 elections.

“I concluded the Busoga campaign at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, reminding our people that the 2026 to 2031 Manifesto builds on the seven major contributions of the NRM, starting with peace and followed by development through roads, electricity, and schools,” Museveni noted.

He cited ongoing works on the Tororo–Jinja, Kampala–Jinja, Amber Court–Budondo, Kamuli, and Mbulamuti roads as examples of progress aimed at boosting economic activity and connectivity.

The President also reiterated his long-standing message on household wealth creation.

“Development is ours together, but wealth is for each household. That is why I again guided people on homestead income and modern farming,” he said, urging Basoga to embrace productivity-oriented economic practices.

Museveni further encouraged supporters to confidently defend the NRM’s record. “When asked why they support NRM, they should confidently say peace, development, wealth creation, jobs, services, integration and East African unity—gains we must protect as we move forward.”

He closed by expressing gratitude to the people of Busoga for their hospitality: “Mwebale Inho!”

The new Busoga Kingdom Headquarters is expected to enhance service delivery, strengthen cultural identity, and boost tourism within the region once completed. The project signals a deepening collaboration between cultural institutions and the central government as Busoga positions itself for a new phase of social and economic revitalisation.
