Omoro District — Mzee Nathan Okori Adiyo, father of the late former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah, has been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Lalogi, Omoro District.

The burial ceremony drew several high-profile dignitaries, with Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Other notable attendees included Chief Justice Emeritus Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, Minister Norbert Mao, and Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua, among others.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among also conveyed her condolences to the family via a phone message.

In a message shared after the burial, Omoro County MP Andrew Ojok Oulanyah expressed gratitude to the government and the public for their support during the mourning period.

“We laid Mzee Okori to rest today. We extend our deepest appreciation to the President, the Leadership of Parliament, CJ Emeritus, MPs and the public for all the financial and moral support offered in this difficult period,” he said. “Thank you once again. May Mzee’s soul rest in peace.”

Leaders at the ceremony paid tribute to Mzee Okori’s legacy, noting that his impact is reflected in the public service of his children, particularly the late Jacob Oulanyah, who served as Speaker of Parliament until his passing in 2022.

The ceremony was marked by solemn tributes, prayers, and messages of comfort to the bereaved family, as mourners gathered to celebrate a life described as humble, impactful, and deeply rooted in community values.
