Uganda Airlines, Airlink sign interline deal

Uganda Airlines has entered a new interline partnership with Airlink, one of Southern Africa’s largest independent carriers, in a move set to greatly expand travel options between Entebbe and more than 45 destinations across Southern Africa.

The agreement, signed on November 24, 2025, will streamline travel for passengers flying through Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) by enabling seamless transfers between the two airlines.

According to Uganda Airlines, the partnership is designed to enhance regional mobility and offer travellers easier access to some of Southern Africa’s most attractive destinations, from coastal and mountain adventure spots to major business hubs and world-renowned safari locations.

“This partnership enhances travel connectivity between Entebbe and East Africa to over 45 destinations in Southern Africa,” Uganda Airlines said. “It gives travellers improved access to the region’s mountains, oceans, safaris and vibrant cities, strengthening connectivity across Africa.”

Seamless Travel and Expanded Choices

Under the interline agreement, passengers will now be able to book a single ticket covering both Uganda Airlines and Airlink flights. Their checked baggage will transfer automatically, removing the need for multiple bookings or separate check-ins when connecting in Johannesburg.

The partnership opens access to Airlink’s broad network, which includes key destinations such as Cape Town, Durban, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Gaborone and many others.

Leaders Praise Strategic Value of the Agreement

Uganda Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Adedayo Olawuyi described the partnership as a major milestone in advancing the airline’s regional ambitions.

“We are excited to partner with Airlink, a respected airline known for its extensive regional network,” Olawuyi said. “This interline agreement is a significant step in our aspirations of making inter-African travel easier. It provides our customers with unparalleled convenience and choice when travelling to key destinations across Southern Africa, all on a single ticket.”

Airlink Chief Commercial Officer Katherine Whelan said the collaboration strengthens the carriers’ shared mission of improving air connectivity across the continent.

“This partnership with Uganda Airlines strengthens our commitments to connecting Africa,” Whelan stated. “It opens up a vital gateway in East Africa for our customers and, in turn, provides Ugandan travellers with efficient and direct access to Southern Africa’s key economic and tourism centres. It’s a win-win for both airlines and our customers.”

The partnership marks another step forward in improving air travel integration within Africa, offering business and leisure travellers more efficient, flexible and accessible connectivity across the region.
