Bushenyi District Police are holding two men in connection with the murder of Linette Karunga, a 21-year-old student of Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus, who was found dead on Monday night in Nyakashebeya Village, Nyabubare Parish, Nyabubare Subcounty.
Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa said the suspects — Onan Nimwesiga and another man identified only as Farouk — are believed to have been close acquaintances of the deceased.
“We have two suspects in custody who were close to the deceased, and they are assisting us as we work to establish what exactly happened,” Tayebwa said. “We appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward. Public cooperation is key in helping us bring the perpetrator to justice.”
He noted that both men are currently being interrogated to support ongoing investigations.
Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as inquiries continue.
