Kamala Harris accuses Trump of ‘war crimes’ in Middle East

Washington, D.C., April 8, 2026 — Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has sharply condemned remarks attributed to President Donald Trump over the ongoing Israel–Iran–United States tensions, warning that the rhetoric risks deepening a conflict that has already resulted in reported fatalities and casualties across the Middle East.

In a strongly worded statement posted on social media, Harris accused the President of threatening “war crimes” and warned that the situation reflected a lack of coherent strategy in an escalating regional conflict.

“The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a ‘whole civilisation’ — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it,” Harris said.

“This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this. Trump’s recklessness is needlessly putting our brave service members in harm’s way, destroying America’s global standing, and making life even more unaffordable for the American people. We must all stand against this and oppose funding this illegal war of choice.”

The comments come as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate, with the United States increasingly drawn into the crisis through reported military involvement, intelligence operations, and regional support alliances.

According to international media reports, recent days have seen a surge in cross-border strikes and retaliatory attacks across the Middle East, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. While exact casualty figures remain fluid, reports indicate that both military personnel and civilians have been affected as the conflict widens.

Diplomatic sources cited in global outlets warn that the situation risks spilling into a broader regional war if urgent de-escalation efforts fail.

Analysts say the war of words in Washington is reflecting deep political divisions over U.S. foreign policy, with critics warning that heightened rhetoric from political leaders could further complicate already fragile diplomatic efforts.

The White House has not yet issued a detailed response to Harris’s remarks, while military officials continue to monitor developments amid growing concern over regional stability.

As fighting continues, international calls for restraint are mounting, with global powers urging all sides to avoid further escalation that could increase civilian casualties and destabilise the wider Middle East.
