Entebbe, Uganda — Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, hosted Charlene Ruto during a courtesy visit at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.

Ms. Ruto was accompanied by a delegation including Mr. George Nkya, Honorary Consul of Morocco, Mr. Festus Orina, Ms. Varsheeni Ragupathy, and Hon. Jane Frances Acilo.

The meeting focused on strengthening social and diplomatic ties between Uganda and Kenya. The visit follows Gen Kainerugaba’s earlier indication on social media that he planned to visit Kenyan President William Ruto.

Uganda and Kenya, both members of the East African Community, share strong cultural, historical, and economic links. Bilateral trade exceeded USD 1.5 billion in 2025, with Kenya’s Mombasa Port serving as Uganda’s main international trade route.

Officials say the engagement supports regional cooperation, economic integration, and stability across East Africa.
