Dar es Salaam, May 3, 2026 — Paul Kagame is set to arrive in Tanzania on Sunday for a one-day working visit, where he will hold high-level bilateral talks with Samia Suluhu Hassan, officials have confirmed.

According to statements from Tanzanian authorities, the visit will focus on strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two East African neighbours, with discussions expected to take place at the State House in Dar es Salaam.

The leaders are expected to deliberate on key areas of cooperation, including trade, security, and regional integration, as both countries seek to deepen ties within the East African Community.

Officials say the visit builds on recent diplomatic engagements, including exchanges between senior government representatives from both countries. The continued dialogue reflects a broader effort to enhance collaboration and stability in the region.

Rwanda and Tanzania, which share a border and long-standing historical ties, have increasingly strengthened cooperation through regional forums and bilateral initiatives. Analysts note that such engagements are crucial as East African nations push for closer economic integration and coordinated responses to security challenges.

President Kagame is expected to return to Kigali later the same day after concluding his talks, marking another step in ongoing efforts to consolidate regional partnerships.
