Ugandan distance runner Esther Chebet produced a superb run to win the women’s race at the Málaga Half Marathon in Spain.
Chebet crossed the finish line in 1:06:33, securing victory ahead of Slovenia’s Klara Lukan, who finished second in 1:06:43. Kenya’s Winnie Jepkosgei Kimutai took third place with a time of 1:08:02.
The Málaga Half Marathon is one of Spain’s leading road races and regularly attracts elite international runners competing over the 21.097-kilometre distance.
Chebet’s victory continues Uganda’s strong presence in global long-distance running, where athletes from the country have increasingly dominated road races and international championships.
