BUSHENYI — Organisers of the Kaggwa League have unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the 2026/27 season, confirming that preparations for the sixth edition of the community football competition will begin with the Father Mukama Tournament on June 28, 2026.

The tournament will serve as a pre-season curtain-raiser, giving participating teams an opportunity to assess their squads and build momentum ahead of the official league campaign.

According to the newly released calendar, the Kaggwa League Season 6 will officially get underway on September 6, 2026, when teams take to the field for the opening round of fixtures.

The competition has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated grassroots sporting events, bringing together football enthusiasts, local communities and young talent under a shared passion for the game.

League organisers have scheduled match days at regular intervals throughout the season, ensuring consistent action and fan engagement from September through March.

The season calendar is as follows:

•       June 28, 2026 – Father Mukama Tournament (Pre-Season)

•       September 6, 2026 – Grand Opening (Match Day 1)

•       September 27, 2026 – Match Day 2

•       October 11, 2026 – Match Day 3

•       October 25, 2026 – Match Day 4

•       November 15, 2026 – Match Day 5

•       November 29, 2026 – Match Day 6

•       December 13, 2026 – Match Day 7

•       January 17, 2027 – Match Day 8

•       January 31, 2027 – Match Day 9

•       February 14, 2027 – Match Day 10

•       March 13, 2027 – Grand Finale

The climax of the season will come on March 13, 2027, when the league’s best-performing teams battle for the championship during the Grand Finale at St. Kaggwa Bushenyi High School.

Organisers say the finale is expected to attract hundreds of football fans, former players and community leaders as the Season 6 champions are crowned.

Since its inception, the Kaggwa League has become more than a football competition, serving as a platform for community bonding, youth engagement and talent development. The tournament has steadily expanded its following, with supporters rallying behind the league’s popular slogans #Akasayi and #TurumbeKaggwa.

With the countdown to the Father Mukama Tournament now underway, participating teams are expected to intensify preparations as they seek to make a strong start to what promises to be another competitive and entertaining season.
