Joshua Cheptegei triumphs at Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates — February 8, 2026: Uganda’s long-distance running legend Joshua Cheptegei delivered a world-class performance to claim victory at the 2026 Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai, finishing the 21.1 km race in an impressive 59 minutes 26 seconds. The win adds another major road-race title to Cheptegei’s illustrious career and highlights his continued strength on the international stage.

In a tight finish among elite competitors, Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir crossed the line just behind Cheptegei in 59:28, while Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu secured third place in 59:30. Cheptegei’s strong finish reinforced his status as one of the top road runners in the world.

The Burj2Burj Half Marathon, which features a scenic route between Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa, attracted a competitive international field and showcased elite distance running at its best.

Cheptegei’s victory in Dubai continues his successful transition into road racing as he builds toward upcoming major marathon events, demonstrating endurance, tactical speed, and championship grit.
