A locomotive belonging to the Uganda Railways Corporation collided with a Sino truck at the Nsambya railway level crossing near the Nsambya subway in Kampala, overturning the vehicle and spilling concrete onto a nearby Toyota Land Cruiser.

The crash, which involved Locomotive 7325, occurred as the truck attempted to cross the railway line while the train was approaching.

According to preliminary reports, the truck driver allegedly ignored safety instructions issued at the crossing and attempted to beat the oncoming train, resulting in the collision.

The impact overturned the truck, causing its concrete load to spill onto the road and onto an oncoming Toyota Land Cruiser traveling nearby.

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were recorded despite the severity of the crash.

Police officers and emergency responders were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow along the busy route.

Photos and videos shared online showed the damaged Sino truck lying on its side near the railway line as police managed traffic around the scene.

The incident caused temporary traffic disruption around the Nsambya subway area, one of Kampala’s busiest transport corridors.

Officials from Uganda Railways said investigations into the crash are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The accident has renewed concerns about road safety and compliance with regulations at railway crossings across Kampala, where motorists have frequently been accused of ignoring warning signals and attempting risky crossings ahead of approaching trains.
