KAMPALA, Uganda — Television host Stella Nante has announced her departure from NTV Uganda’s popular morning lifestyle show Mwasuze Mutya, bringing her two-year stint on the programme to an end.

Nante announced her exit on September 1, 2026, saying she was leaving the show and Nation Media Group Uganda with gratitude as she prepares to pursue new opportunities in media and the creative industry.

“Today, I close one chapter of my career with gratitude, pride and no regrets,” Nante said in a farewell message, adding that “there is more ahead.”

Her departure comes shortly after Flavia, the head of broadcast at Nation Media Group Uganda, sought public feedback on Mwasuze Mutya, asking viewers what should be changed or added to the programme.

“I need your honest review of Mwasuze Mutya the show. What I could change or add. Thank you,” Flavia posted on X.

The request triggered a wide range of reactions, with several viewers turning their attention to the show’s presentation and hosting.

Ugandan media personality Heidi Kasumba said she had suspected the public discussion could have consequences for Nante.

“When Flavia requested an honest view of what changes needed to be made with the Mwasuze Mutya show, most people in the comment section talked about the host. I had a feeling this wouldn’t end well and just like that, Stella has thrown in the towel,” Kasumba wrote.

She added: “You will be missed Stella.”

Nante, however, framed her departure as a planned career transition rather than an abrupt ending. She said she had spent about two months carefully planning her next move and was ready to explore new creative and media opportunities.

During her time on Mwasuze Mutya, Nante became one of the familiar faces of NTV Uganda’s morning programming, engaging viewers through conversations on lifestyle, entertainment, relationships and everyday experiences.

In her farewell message, she expressed appreciation to the production team, sponsors and viewers who supported her during her time on the programme.

She described the experience as an important period of personal and professional growth, saying the role helped strengthen her confidence and allowed her to build meaningful relationships.

Her exit also comes at a time when television programmes are increasingly being shaped by audience feedback, particularly through social media, where viewers can directly comment on hosts, formats and editorial direction.

The reaction to Flavia’s request illustrates how quickly such conversations can move from programme reviews to discussions about individual presenters.

Nante’s departure leaves Mwasuze Mutya facing questions about its next phase, including who will take over the hosting role and whether changes to the programme’s format will follow the recent audience feedback.

For Nante, however, the focus is on what comes next.

Her farewell message struck an optimistic tone, signalling that her departure from Mwasuze Mutya is not an exit from the media industry but the closing of one chapter before another begins.

“I close one chapter of my career with gratitude, pride and no regrets,” she said.

And with the promise that “there is more ahead,” Nante leaves NTV Uganda after two years, with her next move now drawing attention from the same audience that watched her build her career on the morning show.
