The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Ms Rachael Kawala, has confirmed that joint security agencies have successfully recovered six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, by a shamba boy.

According to Kawala, the child was abducted from Kawempe Division in Kampala and later recovered from Busukuma, Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District on December 19, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that on December 12, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m. in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, Kampala District, Muchunguzi David, who was employed as a shamba boy by Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel, left with the victim, Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, the son of Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel, to an unknown destination and failed to return,” Kawala said.

She noted that a case of kidnapping was promptly reported at Universal Police Post, triggering immediate search and rescue operations. “Through analysis of the suspect’s TikTok videos, security agencies were able to trace and successfully recover the victim,” she added.

Kawala further stated that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspect, who remains at large. Police later in the evening handed over Mpirwe to his family at the Nsambya Police Health Services offices after undergoing a medical examination.

Police continue to appeal to the public to provide any information that may aid in the arrest of the suspect.
