A public exchange between Daudi Kabanda and Mathias Walukagga has escalated into a war of words over academic qualifications, professional backgrounds and political ambition.
The disagreement unfolded on X after Walukagga criticised Kabanda’s educational background, insisting that their academic qualifications should not be compared.
“Check this meathead! Never compare my academic level with someone who never schooled @DaudiKabanda. The word is ‘Never’,” Walukagga wrote.
Kabanda responded with a laughing emoji and a Luganda remark, “Naye njogedwa nyo banange,” loosely translated as, “But I have been talked about so much.”
Walukagga pressed the issue, saying he held a university degree and challenging Kabanda to state his own academic qualifications.
“I have a University Degree, olinaki mukulu?” he asked.
Kabanda responded by questioning why Walukagga had not become a Member of Parliament despite holding a degree.
“Kiki ekyakulemesa okufuuka MP ate nga oyina digiri sorry degree,” Kabanda wrote, meaning, “What stopped you from becoming an MP when you have a degree?”
Walukagga then accused Kabanda of being a sycophant and said he had chosen not to follow that path. He also challenged Kabanda to identify his profession.
“I refused to be a sycophant like you, yensonga lwaki. Otherwise for I have a profession, can I know yours?” he posted.
The exchange attracted attention on X, with Kabanda’s post reportedly recording more than 160,000 views at the time indicated in the screenshot.
The two traded personal remarks, shifting the discussion from academic qualifications to professional identity and political success. Neither the claims about their educational backgrounds nor the wider implications of their remarks were independently established in the material available.
The exchange adds to the public debates that often unfold on social media, where disagreements between prominent figures can quickly become personal exchanges over education, careers and political standing.
