Jeeb Rwomushana, the director of Ibanda University, has died, with tributes describing him as an entrepreneur whose investment in education helped many people attain degrees and diplomas.
Rwomushana is remembered for establishing Ibanda University, an initiative credited with expanding access to higher education in the Ibanda community and creating opportunities for students to pursue academic qualifications.
In a condolence message written by Nuwamanya Eugine, Assistant Resource Mobiliser at the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara (USJM), Rwomushana was described as an entrepreneur whose investments contributed to the development of the community.
“Through his entrepreneurial ideas, many people were able to attain degrees and diplomas through Ibanda University, his brainchild investment,” the message reads.
The tribute also described Rwomushana as a developer who established enterprises and contributed to developments that continue to benefit the current generation.
His death has prompted condolences to his family, friends and the wider Ibanda community, including the Ibanda University fraternity, Ibanda Community Development Network (ICON) and Ibanda Hill Trekkers Club (IHTC).
The message also extended condolences to businessman Patrick Bitature and others mourning Rwomushana’s death.
“He was a hero, mentor, father to many and developer who leaves behind a legacy larger than life,” the tribute states.
Rwomushana’s legacy is expected to be remembered particularly through his contribution to education and entrepreneurship in Ibanda, where his university investment provided an avenue for students to pursue higher education.
