Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club KCCA FC has confirmed that several of its supporters were injured in a road accident while returning from a Uganda Premier League match in West Nile.

In an official statement shared on social media, the club said the incident occurred as fans were travelling back from Midigo, Yumbe District after attending the league fixture against Calvary FC. The supporters had reportedly made the long journey to cheer on their team away from home.

“This morning, we received the news of the road accident involving our fans traveling back from Midigo, Yumbe… Several of our brothers and sisters sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention,” the club stated.

The club expressed solidarity with the affected supporters, acknowledging their dedication in travelling across the country to support the team. “We recognize their passion that took them across the country to stand by us, and today, we stand firmly by you,” the statement added.

KCCA FC also confirmed that it is monitoring the situation closely and wished the injured fans a quick recovery.

The incident was first widely reported online by the official KCCA FC fan platform KCCA FC Fans Zone, which also sent out a message wishing the victims a speedy recovery.

Details on the exact number of injured fans and the severity of their injuries have not yet been officially confirmed, but local reports indicate that those affected are receiving medical attention.

Road accidents remain a persistent concern in Uganda, particularly involving long-distance travel for sports supporters and team convoys heading to and from league fixtures across the country.
