Police in Nateete have arrested two suspects linked to a series of violent panga robberies in Mutundwe, within Kampala District.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 10, 2026, at around 1:00 a.m. in Kweeba Zone, Mutundwe Parish, Rubaga Division. Three men, armed with pangas and sticks, allegedly mounted an illegal roadblock targeting unsuspecting road users.

The suspects are said to have intercepted a boda boda rider who was transporting two passengers. The victims were reportedly ordered to lie down before the assailants demanded money and other valuables.

Police officers who were on routine patrol in the area responded promptly to the situation, intercepting the suspects during the robbery. Two of the suspects were arrested on the spot, while one managed to escape.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Engulu William, a 37-year-old private security guard, and Mutabazi Paul, 21, a resident of Kabaawo Zone.

Police say efforts are ongoing to track down the third suspect and any other accomplices connected to the criminal activity. Investigations into the matter are still underway.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, confirmed the arrests and reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring public safety through continued patrols and intelligence-led operations.
