Muhoozi can lead Uganda better than Bobi Wine – Luzzi

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba vs Bobi Wine

Hon. Abraham Luzzi has sparked debate after claiming that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is more capable of leading Uganda than National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

Speaking during an interview on NUP Speaks, aired on Block FM 103.2, Luzzi argued that Muhoozi’s international exposure gives him an advantage in leadership. He said the President’s son has interacted with several world leaders and travelled widely, experiences he believes are critical for national leadership.

“It is not ideal for President Museveni to hand over power directly to his son, but Muhoozi has more capability than Bobi Wine,” Luzzi said. He added that Muhoozi’s financial independence would reduce the likelihood of corruption if he were to assume the presidency.

Luzzi also urged Ugandans to avoid what he described as protest voting driven by frustration. “People should stop voting out of anger. Museveni is not the problem; it is Parliament that makes the laws. Museveni only signs,” he said.

The aspiring politician described himself as an entrepreneur with a strong grasp of governance and economic issues, arguing that business experience offers practical leadership skills often lacking among career politicians. In a lighter moment, Luzzi joked that if he loses the election, he would host a bigger party with socialite Sarah Tall than the one he would organise if he wins.

Turning his criticism to NUP leadership, Luzzi aimed the party’s Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya, questioning the value often attached to foreign education. “People say Rubongoya studied at Harvard. That alone does not make someone prominent,” he said, adding that studying abroad does not automatically translate into effective leadership.

“I have real businesses in those countries. That’s the difference,” Luzzi remarked.

He concluded by calling on voters to make informed decisions rather than emotional choices driven by hardship or anger. “Even if you don’t vote for me, you won’t become me, and I won’t become you,” Luzzi said.
