Kampala is set to experience the ultimate cultural Christmas celebration as BakigaNation announces the return of its signature festival, Rukundo Egumeho – Nohiri Yeitu, on Sunday, 14th December 2025, at Millennium Park, Lugogo.

This year’s edition promises a heartwarming fusion of Kikiga tradition and festive cheer, recreating the Christmas many grew up with in Kigezi. Attendees can expect a vibrant mix of community, food, music, storytelling, and togetherness, delivering nostalgia and cultural pride in the heart of the city.

“This is the Christmas of our childhood—the drums, the carols, the stories, the community. We’re bringing it home to Kampala. This is Nohiri Yeitu… our Christmas, celebrated our way,” said the BakigaNation team.

A Star-Studded Cultural Lineup

The festival’s musical offerings are headlined by the BakigaNation Mass Choir, performing classic Christmas carols the Kikiga way. In addition, the event will feature celebrated artists including: Florence Musimenta, Lillian Nabaasa, Norman Shaaka, Lady Sarah, TPaul and The BakigaNation Cultural Troupe.

Adding to the excitement, Sheebah Karungi joins the festival as a special guest artist, promising a unique blend of mainstream hits and cultural celebration that will have the crowd dancing and singing along.

More Than Just Music

Rukundo Egumeho – Nohiri Yeitu goes beyond performances. Festival-goers can enjoy: a cultural village experience, traditional storytelling sessions, Father Christmas appearances, special Christmas giveaways, art, craft, and food exhibitions and family-friendly fun and kids’ activities.

“This edition is not just an event; it is a return to roots, a celebration of identity, and a moment for families, friends, and communities to reconnect,” said Owen Katwesigye Bigombe, Team Leader at BakigaNation.

The festival is proudly supported by Pilsner Lager, Roke Telkom, Tents 4 U, Pacific Events, Sanyuka TV, AfroMobile, Next Music, Capital Radio, and Black, helping amplify its mission to preserve culture, celebrate community, and highlight the richness of Kigezi.

This December, Kampala’s festive season is set to resonate with the sounds, stories, and spirit of Kigezi, and Sheebah Karungi will be there to bring the fire. Don’t miss it!
