WAKISO — The Uganda Police Force has recovered an illegal firearm during an intelligence-led operation in Entebbe, leading to the arrest of 16 suspects.
According to police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the operation was conducted on April 11, 2026, across multiple locations including Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba, and Ssisa Village in Wakiso District.
“The operation targeted houses under construction in Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate, as well as known gambling points,” Kawala said in a statement.
She noted that the crackdown followed public complaints about a suspected individual believed to be in possession of an illegal firearm, prompting a coordinated intelligence-led response by security teams.
“A total of 16 suspects were arrested during the exercise. One of the suspects, identified as Segujja Ronald, later led officers to the recovery of the pistol, which has since been secured as an exhibit,” she added.
Police confirmed that all suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
The force has reiterated its commitment to responding to community concerns and tackling illegal firearms, urging the public to continue sharing information to support crime prevention efforts.
