Police in Kampala have arrested six suspects during an operation targeting the trade in suspected stolen motor vehicle parts in Kiseka Market.

The operation was conducted by officers from Uganda Police Force, particularly the Jinja Road Police Station, on March 5, 2026, between 10:00am and 3:00pm.

Police said several shops suspected of dealing in stolen vehicle components were searched during the exercise.

During the operation, officers recovered multiple items believed to have been removed from vehicles, including grills, side mirrors, number plates, spotlights, headlamps, and baby side mirrors.

Authorities said the suspects were charged with receiving and retaining suspected stolen property.

The arrested individuals are currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station as investigations continue and prosecutors prepare charges.

Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trade in stolen vehicle parts and dismantle urban crime networks operating in Kampala’s commercial centres.
