Police in Nsangi and Kyengera have recovered an illegal firearm and arrested a 26-year-old suspect following a targeted intelligence-led operation.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, officers acting on a tip-off apprehended Kimbugwe Vincent, also known as Kasumali. A subsequent search at his residence in Massanda Cell, Kyengera Town Council, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle.

Authorities revealed that the firearm appeared rusted and had an obscured serial number. It has since been submitted to the police forensic laboratory for detailed analysis.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to establish the source of the weapon and any possible links to criminal activity.

Police have commended local authorities and residents for their vigilance and cooperation, noting that community support remains critical in efforts to enhance public safety.
