Nairobi, Kenya – President Yoweri Museveni has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa We Build Summit 2026, a high-level gathering bringing together leaders from government, development finance institutions, and the private sector to accelerate the continent’s infrastructure agenda.
The summit focuses on shifting Africa’s infrastructure development from policy prioritisation to practical implementation, with an emphasis on unlocking investment, improving coordination, and addressing structural bottlenecks that have slowed major projects across the continent.
According to the programme, the Africa Finance Corporation used the summit to launch the State of Africa Infrastructure Report 2026, which highlights persistent challenges, including limited capital intermediation, fragmented infrastructure systems, and gaps in project preparation and delivery across African economies.
Upon arrival, President Museveni noted that the forum provides an important platform for strengthening collaboration between African governments and investors to advance socio-economic transformation through infrastructure development.
“I have arrived this morning in Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the Africa We Build Summit 2026. The Summit brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss practical ways of moving Africa’s infrastructure from priority to implementation,” he said in a post on X.
He added that he looks forward to engaging with fellow leaders, investors, and partners on strategies to accelerate infrastructure growth and deepen cooperation for Africa’s development.
The Africa We Build Summit 2026 is expected to run discussions on financing models, regional integration projects, and partnerships aimed at scaling up infrastructure delivery across transport, energy, and urban development sectors.
