Residents of Rubaare Town have been left in shock following the discovery of a man’s body under unclear circumstances at Amahoro Bar and Lodges in Rubaare 2 on Friday night.

The deceased, whose identity had not yet been established by press time, was found unresponsive in Room 7 of the lodge, sparking concern among locals and prompting a police probe.

According to preliminary information from the lodge management, the man checked in earlier that day at around 10:00am. He is said to have bought two bottles of Guinness before retiring to his room, where he remained for the rest of the day.

The lodge manager, Bruce Niwamanya, described the incident as unprecedented for the establishment.

“We found him unresponsive in his room. It is something we have never experienced here. We are cooperating fully with authorities to understand what happened,” he said.

Local leaders have since called for tighter safety measures in lodges and bars, particularly around guest identification and record-keeping.

The LC1 Chairperson of Rubaare 2, Milton Ndebesa, urged business operators to remain vigilant and enforce proper procedures.

“Incidents like this can be avoided if proper guidelines are followed. Every guest must be properly registered, and any suspicious behaviour reported early,” he noted.

Police officers responded to the scene shortly after the discovery and have launched investigations to establish the cause of death. The body was later taken for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.

The incident has unsettled the local community, with residents demanding answers as authorities work to determine what led to the man’s death.
