KAMPALA – A delegation of Arsenal Football Club legends, led by former striker Thierry Henry and ex-midfielder Nwankwo Kanu, is expected to visit Uganda in a high-profile football and community engagement tour.

The announcement was made by Nabirye Barbara, Special Presidential Assistant on Special Duties and chairperson of Arsenal fans in Uganda, who confirmed the planned visit during an online update shared widely among supporters.

According to early information shared by local fan networks, the visit will bring together Arsenal legends for a series of fan engagements, youth football activities, and community outreach programmes aimed at strengthening sports development and fan engagement in Uganda.

The visit is being coordinated in collaboration with Arsenal supporters’ groups in Uganda, with preparations underway to host the delegation in Kampala and other selected locations.

Football fans have reacted with excitement on social media, describing the planned tour as a rare opportunity to meet some of the club’s most iconic figures. Arsenal enjoys one of the largest fan bases in Uganda, with strong followings across Kampala and upcountry regions.

The planned visit is also expected to include motivational sessions for young footballers, media engagements, and interactions with local academies, reflecting a growing trend of European clubs expanding their presence in African fan communities.

While full details of the itinerary and dates are yet to be officially released, organisers say the delegation will engage directly with supporters and highlight the club’s global community initiatives.

If confirmed, the visit would mark another major international football engagement in Uganda, further cementing the country’s reputation as a strong football market in East Africa.
