KAMPALA – First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ugandans for their prayers, birthday wishes, and messages of support following concerns about her health, saying her recovery is a testament to God’s faithfulness.

In a message shared on her official X account on Friday, Janet Museveni described her recovery as confirmation of her Christian faith and thanked the nation for standing with her in prayer.

“It’s me, Janet Museveni. It is a confirmation that the God I talk about is a living God. He is not a myth, He lives!” she said.

The First Lady reserved special appreciation for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom she referred to as “Mzee,” for leading the nation in prayer during the period.

“I must therefore thank Uganda, beginning with Mzee, who has prayed with the whole nation. I praise God for leading us to know Him. Thank you all for coming out publicly to pray for me,” she said.

Janet Museveni also thanked Ugandans for the many messages she received during her birthday and throughout the period of prayer and support.

“Thank you for all those continuous prayers and also for the kind birthday wishes. Thank you for letting me know just how much I am loved,” she added.

Her message comes days after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni publicly asked Ugandans to pray for the First Lady, prompting an outpouring of prayers and goodwill messages from religious leaders, political figures, institutions, and members of the public across the country.

The First Lady’s statement is the first public message she has personally issued since the nationwide prayers, reassuring supporters while expressing gratitude for what she described as God’s intervention and the overwhelming support shown by Ugandans.
