KASANGATI, Wakiso District — Police in Kasangati are holding a boda boda rider on allegations of aggravated defilement involving his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

The suspect, identified as Ronald Mayanja, a resident of Lutete Village in Kumunana Zone, Nangabo Parish, Kasangati Town Council, was arrested following information received by police regarding the alleged abuse.

According to preliminary investigations, the girl lost her biological mother at the age of six and had since been living under the care of her stepfather alongside his biological children.

Police allege that the offences occurred over a period when the victim was between 12 and 13 years old. Following the report, officers launched investigations that led to the suspect’s arrest.

Mayanja is currently being held at Kasangati Central Police Station as investigations continue.

In a statement, police condemned all forms of violence against children and urged members of the public to promptly report suspected cases of child abuse to enable timely intervention and protection of vulnerable children.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring that perpetrators of abuse are brought to justice.
