Glasgow, Scotland — Uganda’s national netball team, the She Cranes, were crowned 2025 Celtic Cup Champions on Sunday, completing a flawless campaign and cementing their reputation on the international stage.

The title was secured with a commanding 70–48 victory over Wales at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, ensuring Uganda finished the tournament as the only unbeaten side. This win marked the team’s fifth straight triumph on foreign soil, underscoring their growing confidence, discipline, and world-class execution.

Star shooter Mary Nuba once again shone brightly, earning Lady of the Match honours for the second time in the tournament. Meanwhile, rising sensation Nasanga Shadiah was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Celtic Cup, highlighting her pivotal contributions throughout the competition.

Earlier in the tournament, Uganda also overcame regional rivals Zimbabwe 67–54, with Shaffie Nalwanja claiming Player of the Match recognition. She became the fourth Ugandan to earn the accolade, joining Mary Nuba (against Scotland), Maggie Riri (against Northern Ireland), and Maimuna Segujja (against Namibia).

The Uganda Netball Federation and fans across the globe lauded the She Cranes for their resilience, teamwork, and unyielding spirit throughout the tournament.

On the final day, Namibia recorded their first win of the competition, narrowly defeating Northern Ireland, while Scotland secured second place with a 10-goal victory over Zimbabwe. Yet, all attention remained on Uganda, whose dominance left no doubt about their status as rightful champions.

With this victory, the She Cranes have not only claimed silverware but also sent a strong message about Uganda’s growing prowess in international netball.
