West Nile — The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has intensified its nationwide campaigns with a strong message of integrity, nonviolence, and transformation, as party presidential candidate Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Mugisha Muntu traverses the West Nile sub–region ahead of the 2026 General Election.
In a series of engagements across Adjumani, Moyo, Koboko, and Maracha districts this week, the party reiterated its call for Ugandans to retire the “old guard” and embrace a leadership grounded in dignity, justice, and accountability.
“After 40 years of broken promises, stolen livelihoods, and shattered trust, the time has come to retire the old guard and embrace a new vision rooted in dignity, justice, and transformation,” the party said in a statement posted on X. “Vote ANT, vote Mugisha Muntu — the change you can trust.”
The party has been running its campaign under the slogan “People First – A New Future”, emphasising citizen-centred leadership and ethical governance.
Muntu Denounces Armed Paths to Power
Speaking to supporters at Kobokong’a in Koboko District, Gen Muntu reiterated his long-standing belief in peaceful political transition, stating he would never take up arms to seize power.
“I have no intention of taking up arms to fight for power unless it is through a citizens’ election,” Muntu told the crowd. “Anyone who uses guns to seize power becomes difficult to remove because they entrench themselves and kill people. That is not the path for Uganda.”
His remarks appeared to draw a contrast with Uganda’s violent political history and the ruling establishment’s militarised approach to governance.
Muntu, a former army commander and long-time advocate for institutional reform, told supporters that Uganda’s transformation could only be achieved by building strong systems, not strongmen.
Campaign Momentum Builds in Adjumani and Moyo
Earlier in the week, ANT announced it had resumed its nationwide campaign with scheduled stops in Adjumani and Moyo districts. “We remain committed to sharing our transformative agenda as we ask all of you to choose the change you can trust,” the party said.
Party officials stated that the West Nile engagements were part of ANT’s plan to speak directly with communities about a development strategy tailored to each segment of the population, focusing on improved governance, economic empowerment, youth opportunities, and social justice.
“Our team, led by presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu, is on the ground in Koboko and will end the day in Maracha District,” ANT posted on December 5. “We will pursue transformative change and development by focusing on each segment of the population.”
A Campaign Built on Humility and Trust
Muntu’s tone during the rallies has remained consistent with his long-standing philosophy of quiet, principled politics rooted in ethical behaviour. Observers note that his approach contrasts sharply with the heated rhetoric seen elsewhere on the campaign trail.
ANT officials say the party is positioning itself as the moral alternative in the political arena — disciplined, transparent, and focused on building institutions strong enough to outlast personalities.
As the 2026 campaign season intensifies, ANT hopes its message of nonviolence, clean leadership, and people-centred governance will resonate in a political environment often dominated by confrontation and state intimidation. “All we ask is that Ugandans choose a future they can trust,” one party organiser said. “We believe that the future is ANT.”
