Four arrested over brutal Soroti city robbery and murder

Soroti City, Uganda — The Uganda Police Force has arrested four key suspects in connection with the murder and aggravated robbery of Kokunda Patricia, following an intensified manhunt by security agencies.

According to police, the fatal attack occurred in the early hours of April 3, 2026, at around 4:40 a.m. at Teso Coach Park along Station Road near Goalman Supermarket in Soroti City. The victim was reportedly attacked, robbed, and shot dead by armed assailants.

Police say two suspects — Okello Alex and Onego Felix — were arrested on the same day as the incident. Investigations later led to the arrest of Epeu Simon, also known as Iboda, in Anyara, where officers recovered UGX 7 million believed to be linked to the robbery.

On April 4, police arrested the suspected shooter, Elacu Alfred, in Orungo.

Authorities also confirmed the recovery of the victim’s smartphone, which had been discarded in a bush in Kichinjani.

“The hunt for suspects was intensified by police and sister security agencies, leading to these arrests,” the police said in an update, adding that further investigations are ongoing to recover additional exhibits and establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime.

The killing has raised concerns among residents about safety in Soroti City, particularly in busy public spaces such as transport hubs.

Police have urged the public to remain calm as inquiries continue, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim.
