The Uganda Police Force has arrested two suspects following an office break-in and theft incident reported at the College of Veterinary Medicine within Makerere University.

The incident, which occurred at the Postmortem Department building, prompted an immediate response from officers at the Wandegeya area. Upon arrival, police deployed a sniffer dog to support investigations.

The canine unit, led by a sniffer dog identified as Boela, successfully picked up a scent from the crime scene. The trail stretched for about 900 metres, leading officers to a nearby residential house where two suspects were found.

Police identified the suspects as Ochieng David and Wandwali Colline. A search of the premises reportedly led to the recovery of multiple suspected stolen items, including electrical cables and extensions, five CPUs, a Dell desktop computer, office chairs, a printer, six Dell projectors, a cupboard, a hard disk, gloves marked for Makerere University, a curtain frame, a projector screen, and a laptop.

Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the suspects, Ochieng David, is both a student at the College of Veterinary Medicine and an employee at the Makerere University farm.

The suspects are currently being held at the Makerere University Police Station as investigations continue. Police say further inquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the theft and whether more individuals may have been involved.
