TikToker ‘Pressure 24/7’ sent Luzira over Muhoozi rants

A Kampala court has remanded popular TikToker Ibrahim Musana, also known online as “Pressure 24/7,” to Luzira Upper Prison after he was charged with hate speech and unlawful access to personal data related to the Chief of Defence Forces.

Musana appeared before a magistrate’s court in Kampala where prosecutors accused him of sharing a photograph of Muhoozi Kainerugaba on social media alongside statements allegedly claiming that the army chief was unfit to hold public office.

The prosecution alleges that Musana unlawfully accessed and shared personal data belonging to the CDF and published content deemed hateful or offensive under Uganda’s cyber laws. He denied the charges, and the court remanded him to Luzira Prison until March 26 when he is expected to return for further proceedings, including a possible plea.

Gen. Kainerugaba is the son of Yoweri Museveni and currently heads the Uganda People’s Defence Forces as Chief of Defence Forces.

Previous legal battles

Musana’s latest prosecution comes barely a year after he was acquitted in a separate case involving similar accusations of offensive online communication.

In that case, authorities had accused him of making derogatory social media posts about President Museveni and Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, among other public figures. The court eventually cleared him of those charges.

Debate over online expression

The arrest and remand of the TikTok personality has sparked debate on social media about the boundaries of online expression and accountability.

Some commentators argue that social media users should be held responsible for harmful or defamatory posts, especially those targeting public officials. Others say the case reflects growing concerns about restrictions on freedom of expression in Uganda’s digital space.

Authorities in recent years have increasingly used cybercrime laws to pursue individuals accused of spreading misinformation, hate speech, or offensive communication online.

Musana will remain on remand until March 26 as the court determines the next steps in the case.
