Makerere University has officially dissolved the 91st Students’ Guild Cabinet and the Guild Representative Council (GRC) following the completion of the current student leadership term.

The decision, communicated in a formal notice dated March 6, 2026, was implemented in accordance with Article 11 (f) and (g) of the Makerere University Students’ Guild Statute 2022, with the dissolution taking effect on March 5, 2026.

According to Winifred Kabumbuli, while most guild organs have been dissolved, the Guild Tribunal will remain operational during the transition period to address student grievances.

“The Guild Tribunal will continue to operate and will provide a platform for students to raise concerns in a fair and impartial manner until the second sitting of the next Guild Representative Council,” she said.

University management expressed appreciation to the outgoing student leaders for their service and commitment during their term of office.

During the interim period, administration of student guild affairs will be coordinated by the University Electoral Commission in collaboration with university management through the Dean of Students’ Office.

This arrangement will remain in place until a new student government is elected and sworn in to lead the student body.
