The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has confirmed the impoundment of a taxi allegedly involved in highway robbery incidents. The vehicle, registered UBL 572K, was intercepted in Masaka and escorted to Nateete Police Station for investigations.

According to police, preliminary reports indicate that the taxi targeted a female victim, coercing her to open the vehicle door. The suspects reportedly told her she had hit someone at Namungona Roundabout on the Northern Bypass, a tactic believed to be used to deceive victims and steal their vehicles.

“Following this incident, police launched a coordinated search operation for the vehicle, which culminated in its successful interception and impoundment in Masaka,” the UPF said in a statement.

Police are now recording the victim’s statement to support ongoing investigations. Authorities have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The UPF continues to urge road users to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity on highways to prevent similar incidents.
