The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has charged and remanded lawyer Male Mabirizi to Luzira Prison over alleged TikTok posts targeting Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija and Court of Appeal Justice Musa Ssekaana.
Mabirizi was on Monday paraded before the court and charged with four counts of malicious information, contrary to Section 28 (1) and (2) of the Computer Misuse Act, Cap 96.
According to the prosecution, in the first count, Mabirizi is accused of, during January 2026, at various places in Uganda, including Kampala and Wakiso districts, using a computer via the TikTok account @male.mabirizi to send, share or transmit information relating to the Chief Justice of Uganda, Dr Flavian Zeija.
The prosecution alleges that Mabirizi described the Chief Justice as “a con man and fraudster,” corrupt, and claimed that he sold his property to pay a bribe for his appointment as Principal Judge, allegations the state says are false.
The prosecution further contends that the information was intended to, or was likely to, ridicule, degrade or demean the Chief Justice.
In another count, Mabirizi is accused of similar offences in relation to Court of Appeal Justice Musa Ssekaana. Prosecutors allege that during the same period and through the same TikTok account, Mabirizi transmitted information claiming that Justice Ssekaana is “a con man and fraudster,” whereas not.
The state maintains that the information concerning Justice Ssekaana was also likely to ridicule, degrade or demean the senior judicial officer, thereby constituting malicious information under the Computer Misuse Act.
Mabirizi was remanded to Luzira Prison until February 18, 2026, when the matter will return to court for mention and a possible bail application.
