Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a 28-year-old woman, her 15-month-old daughter and a 19-year-old domestic worker in Kyegegwa District.
The bodies of Kansiime Christine, her daughter Miracle and Joan A, who worked at Christine’s home, were discovered on October 8, 2026, at Karokalungi LC I, Kyamagaba Parish, Nkanja Sub-county.
According to a statement issued by Rwenzori West Regional Police spokesperson SP Twesige Vincent, a neighbour visited the residence at about 1pm to check on the occupants and discovered the bodies.
The neighbour alerted other residents, who subsequently notified police.
Officers from Kyaka II Police Station responded to the scene, supported by personnel from Kyegegwa Central Police Station.
Police said a sniffer dog named Bruno was deployed to track a scent from the scene. The dog reportedly led investigators to a corridor in Bwiliza Ndolobwile Village, where clothing belonging to one of the deceased was recovered.
The tracking exercise subsequently led officers to the home of Bageza Tonesiti, where the clothing was recovered, according to police.
Two suspects were arrested following the canine tracking exercise and are being investigated as inquiries continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Police said investigations were ongoing to establish what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
The three killings reportedly occurred on October 7, 2026, although the bodies were discovered the following day.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the two suspects or the motive behind the killings.
