KAMPALA — Police have arrested three drivers in Ibanda District after they were intercepted allegedly carrying students in the boots of Toyota Noah vehicles during traffic operations.
According to the Uganda Police Force traffic operations update issued on Friday, the three Toyota Noah vehicles were intercepted while transporting students in the boots of the vehicles.
The three drivers were arrested and detained in police custody pending further action.
In Mityana, police also intercepted a Link Bus for allegedly carrying excess passengers. The conductor was arrested and detained.
Meanwhile, in Mubende, traffic officers arrested the driver of a Toyota Hiace for allegedly carrying an excessive load on top of the vehicle.
Police said all the suspects remain in custody and will be produced before court to face the relevant charges.
The operations form part of ongoing traffic enforcement aimed at curbing dangerous practices and violations of road safety regulations.
