Teso — Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Rt. Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi has stepped up his campaign activities in eastern Uganda, traversing Bukedea, Serere and Soroti districts with a message centred on economic revival, agricultural transformation and restoring dignity to neglected communities.
On Tuesday, the FDC secretariat announced that Nandala Mafabi will continue his trail in Bulambuli District, where he is expected to share key highlights of the party’s 2026 manifesto. The party said the campaign is focused on “fixing the economy and putting money back in our pockets,” a slogan that has become central to FDC’s messaging.
Stops Across Bukedea: “Money in Our Pockets”
Over the last two days, Nandala Mafabi has held multiple engagements in Bukedea District, stopping in Kangole, Kabarwa, Kolir and Kaminiti sub-counties. At each gathering, he outlined FDC’s core manifesto priorities, including job creation, social protection and agricultural reform.
“Our message is simple,” the FDC posted. “We are here to share key manifesto points that will put money into people’s pockets and fix the economy.”
Residents turned up in steady numbers as the candidate explained FDC’s economic recovery plan and urged communities to vote for a leadership that prioritises ordinary citizens.
Courting Teso Votes With Agriculture-Led Development
In Serere District, Nandala Mafabi used his campaign events to speak directly to the agricultural concerns of the Teso sub-region. Meeting residents at Ongiji, Okoboi, Serere Upper Shops, Ikona Iyaredi and Awoja trading centres, he unveiled FDC’s plan to revive coffee and cotton production—long-standing economic pillars that have since declined due to mismanagement and lack of government support.
“Teso has the potential to once again become a key agricultural powerhouse,” the FDC team said. “Our candidate pledged to introduce large-scale coffee growing in the sub-region and restore cotton as a reliable cash crop that can lift households out of poverty.”
He also promised practical support for small traders and fishing communities, including the provision of fridges to help preserve perishable products and reduce losses.

“A Leader Who Cares”
The FDC criticised what it called the government’s deep neglect of the Teso sub-region, citing poor roads, unreliable electricity and deteriorating public services.
“Communities here have endured poor roads, unstable electricity and collapsing services for far too long,” the party stated. “An FDC government will not tolerate such neglect. We will deliver the infrastructure and services that people deserve.”
The party’s commitments to the region include: Coffee and Cotton Revival: Reintroducing large-scale coffee production and revitalising cotton growing.
Infrastructure Development: Upgrading roads and guaranteeing a stable electricity supply.
Improved Social Services: Strengthening healthcare systems, improving education and introducing monthly stipends for elderly citizens.
Compensation and Justice: Supporting families who lost loved ones or property during past conflicts and injustices.
“We shall rebuild the economy, restore dignity to our communities and create a future where every Ugandan has a fair chance to thrive,” the party added.
Engagement in Soroti: “Hope and Action”
After a full day of rallies in Serere, Nandala Mafabi appeared live in the studios of 91.5 Kyoga Veritus Radio (KVR FM) in Soroti City to address the sub-region on air. He later continued his mobilisation in Ojom Sub-county, where he discussed practical solutions to household financial stress.
“There is hope and action in Ojom today,” the FDC said. “Rt. Hon. Nandala Mafabi engaged communities on fixing the economy and empowering households.”
Momentum Ahead of Bulambuli Visit
FDC officials say the campaign will continue to intensify as the candidate heads to Bulambuli, where he will present the party’s economic blueprint and meet local leaders and residents.
With his message of agricultural transformation, compensation for conflict-affected families, and investments in infrastructure and social services, Nandala Mafabi is positioning himself as the candidate who understands and prioritises rural livelihoods.
As the 2026 campaigns gather pace, the FDC is urging voters to embrace an alternative leadership rooted in accountability, service delivery and economic justice. “Stand with the FDC,” the party declared. “One Uganda, one people.”
