Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) have congratulated a group of senior Ugandan academics and public servants on earning Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from Nelson Mandela University, South Africa.

Among the distinguished graduates is Dr Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), who received his PhD in recognition of his significant contributions to public finance and economic policy.

MUBS also congratulated their senior colleagues, Dr Robert Turyamwijuka and Dr Shakillah Nagguja, on completing their doctoral studies. The business school hailed the achievement as a testament to its dedication to academic excellence and professional growth.

Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, Vice Chancellor of MUST, joined in congratulating Dr Ggoobi, describing the achievement as a milestone not only for the individual but also for Uganda’s academic and public service communities.

The conferment of these PhDs underscores the increasing collaboration between Ugandan institutions and international universities, reflecting a sustained commitment to research, innovation, and capacity building in the country.
